How to Make Homemade Cheese

Cheese is a key ingredient to every Iranian breakfast table. It's usually ate with bread and fresh vegetables, and walnuts. This is a simple recipe to how to make your own cheese.

Ingredients:

- 2 gallons of milk

- 1 cup of vinegar

- 1 tablespoon of salt

- Cheese cloth

- Strainer


Directions:

1- Pour the milk in a stock pot and heat it up until it starts boiling. After the milk reached its boiling point, add in your vinegar and your salt and turn off the heat. Then let it cool for about 5-10 minutes.



2- Pour aside about 2 cups of the liquid mixture in the container that you will be keeping the cheese in. Then pour the rest of the liquid and the cheese into your cheese cloth and strainer.

3- Wrap your cheese cloth tightly around the cheese and sit it in your strainer. Put a heavy object on top of it to add pressure from the top to get the rest of the water out of the cheese and make into shape. Let it sit like that for about 5 hours.



4- Cut your cheese into slices and keep them in your container with the liquid in it. You can add in a little more vinegar and salt to the water to give the cheese a better flavor.



5- Leave the cheese stored in your fridge for about a week for it to absorb in the flavors.
